This Ultimate Salted Caramel Flakes recipe is so incredibly delicious, fast and easy to make, you'll wonder why you ever bought caramel sprinkles in the first place! It will take your edible garnishes to a whole new level! Crunchy with the perfect mix of sweet & salty, you'll love these tasty treats!
Preheat oven to 400°F (205°C). Don't use convection as the sugar will blow all over the place!
Evenly distribute sugar & salt on a parchment lined tray. Spread the crystals apart more & they will become sprinkles. Closer together they will melt into one and become flakes.
2 Tbsp Turbinado Sugar, 1/4 tsp Kosher Salt
Place your pan carefully on the bottom rack. Bake until the sugar & salt melt into one another - for me this is at exactly 5 mins. DO NOT walk away from the oven! Once they begin to melt you have about 15 seconds before they burn!
Promptly remove the tray from the oven & let cool. Break apart your flakes and store in a mason jar (just as you do sugar & salt) in a cool place.
Notes
TIP: I like to fold the edges of my parchment so that the sugar & salt do not roll off my tray when I transfer it to the oven.
