As you can see from the photos on this page, I am a mom and wife to the best family ever! My hubby Brett is so amazing and I have the sweetest and most loving kids I could ever have dreamt of.
I’m also a family photographer and run a small knitting and crochet blog. It is so important to me to find work where I can make a living for my family yet still be able to spend a significant amount of time with them. I started off my career working for a major oil and gas company in Calgary (that is where I met my husband) as a business analyst. I quickly realized after having kids that working a 9 to 5 job was not for me! My children and my sanity were suffering. I had a passion for photography, so I took the plunge and quit my day job. My photography really took off shortly after that and I couldn’t be happier.
One of the best parts of being able to work from home is that I can cook for my family. I love to cook and they love to eat! I am ethnically Indian, but my parents and grandparents are from East Africa. The food I grew up eating was basically a fusion of the two regions and it is absolutely delicious. When I started this blog, my goal was to just post only recipes from my heritage, but there are so many other recipes that my family loves to eat (and that I love to make for them)! As well, I try to tweak recipes to sneak in healthy ingredients. I truly do believe that healthy food doesn’t have to taste that way. So on this blog, you will find some traditional Indian/East African recipes, as well as recipes modified to be healthier. I may even occasionally post a recipe that has nothing to do with my heritage but that I just love so much that I have to share it with you.
I hope you enjoy these recipes!
